Berdasarkan aspek mental dan psikologis yang diungkap, maka secara garis besar tes psikologis dibagi menjadi dua macam, yaitu:

1. Mengungkap aspek kognitif (intelegensi)

  • Tes Binet
  • Tes Wechsler (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale for Intelligence)
  • Tes Raven (Standard Progressive Matrices, Coloured Progressive Matrices, Advanced Progressive Matrices)
  • TIKI (Tes Intelegensi Kolektif Indonesia)

2. Mengungkap aspek kepribadian

a. Teknik non proyektif (obyektif)

  • EPPS (Edwards Personal Preference Schedule)
  • MMPI (Minessota Multiphasic Personality Inventory)
  • 16 PF
  • CAQ (Clinical Analysis Questionnaire)

b. Teknik proyektif

  • TAT (Thematic Apperception Test)
  • Tes Grafis
  • Tes Wartegg
  • SSCT (Sack Sentence Completion Test)
  • Tes Szhondi (sarana proyeksinya foto)
  • Tes Rorschach (salah satu tes bercak tinta)

    Ada baiknya kalau Hilary Blog dapat dikembangkan agar mereka yang minat di bidnag ini – dapat berinteraksi dan saling mengasah ilmu2 baru. Kenapa California Personality Inventory tidak/ belum dibahas ?

    Menurut saya tes kepribadian yang sering dipakai adalah tes MMPI baik yang MMPI-I maupun MMPI-II.
    Terus terang untuk CPI (California Personality Inventory)saya sendiri tidak mempunyai instrumennya dan kurang memahami cara penggunaannya. Mungkin hal ini bisa didiskusikan lebih lanjut di e-mail.

    The right question to ask is :
    How far can we believe in Numbers ?
    How accurate is the methode for synthesizing Assessment regarding Formulation of Statements or Questions.

    Not to forget the cultural background of the examiner or compiler plays a bias, either little or otherwise.
